Thank
you for visiting my website. I am pleased that you care enough about
your community, the state of Texas, and our American democracy to
investigate my candidacy.
I
have proudly served the people of Texas's 30th Congressional District
since 1992 and am grateful for all that we have been able to accomplish
together. I am honored to represent neighborhoods which include
Downtown Dallas, Northeast Dallas, South Dallas, FairPark, East
Oak Cliff, Pleasant Grove, Balch Springs, DeSoto, Lancaster, Hutchins,
and parts of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Glen Heights, Wilmer and Ovilla.
This
site will provide you with information about Eddie Bernice Johnson
the candidate. Here you will find information about my background,
my accomplishments before and while serving you in Congress, and
my views on the issues.
Many politicians and candidates make pledges and
promises. I make just one. That promise is to work hard, listen
to the people who sent me to Washington, stay in touch and to do
the best job I possibly can for the people I represent.
I
look forward to hearing from you at my campaign office and seeing
you out on the campaign trail.
Sincerely,
Eddie Bernice Johnson

Eliminate the Antitrust Exemption for Health Insurance
Companies
by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Affordable
Health Care for America Act on November 7, and the Senate passed
its own health care reform bill on December 24. Our country faces
so many challenges right now that in recent weeks, it seems that
momentum for reforming health care has slowed as other issues have
taken center stage, particularly the need for another jobs bill
to build on the success of the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act. However, reforming our broken health care system so that every
American has access to quality, affordable health care is as important
now as it was in November, when I voted in favor of the House bill.
In fact, as time passes, reform grows increasingly important --
in the coming months, we will see more and more Americans priced
out of the health insurance market.
